The all-you-can-eat hot pot restaurant Yum Yum Hot Pot quietly opened in Temple Terrace on Christmas day.

Yum Yum Hot Pot will join the few other hot pot restaurants in Tampa Bay including Boil Spot,  Fushia Asian Bistro & Hot Pot Buffet, Hot Pot BBQ, and  Nine Spices Hot pot & Korean BBQ in Pinellas Park.

This new hot pot joint also offers a variety of beer and alcohol, including plum wine and sake, to wash your scalding-hot soup down.

If you’ve never dined at a hot pot restaurant, diners sit at a table outfitted with a metal pot filled with simmering broth and surrounded with plates of raw ingredients like meats, seafood, fresh noodles and vegetables. Diners choose their ingredients from a rotating conveyor belt, adding ingredients to the broth and cooking them to their liking. Fish around the boiling hot broth (seriously, there’s a burn disclaimer on its website) to remove bites with chopsticks, dip them in a customizable sauce and then attempt to smack the entire pot in the hopes of earning a food coma.

You’re basically making your own dinner with ingredients you wouldn’t otherwise have access to in such abundance. It’s a slightly overwhelming, but an utterly Instagrammable experience, especially for a hot pot first-timer.

Yum Yum Hot Pot is an all-you-can-eat restaurant, but make sure you read the fine print. There is a two hour limit to eating and its employees are allowed to charge you up to $14.99 a pound for any wasted food— so eat wisely.

Yum Yum Hot Pot is now open 4 p.m.- 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 4 p.m- midnight Friday and Saturday, at 11301 N 56th street unit #6 in Temple Terrace.
